In this paper the propagation of Love waves in laterally and vertically inhomogeneous transversely isotropic media consisting of an infinite half-space under a layer with stress-free boundary is considered separation of variable technique is used to express the directional rigidities and density in the layer and half-space. Equation of motion is derived. Non-zero components of displacement and stress are obtained in the layer and the half-space. Using boundary conditions, the frequency equation is derived. A restriction imposed on phase velocity c is obtained. Giving exponential variation in directional rigidities and density, the expressions for group velocity and frequency equation are obtained.
